REVIEWS

“My son came to Matthew at a key point in his progression on the piano. He had just passed Grade 5 practical and needed to pass the theory exam and move on to the more demanding grades. He is now just starting his grade 8 practical within a few years. This is a testament to Matthew’s healthy mix of professionalism and personable approach- able to connect with teenagers and bring out the best in them when others have failed. My son has truly flourished in his enjoyment and playing ability both in classical and contemporary music. It was the best decision I made. I would heartily recommend Matthew as an all round excellent teacher”  Ruth Nelmes

“I went from answering questions with C grade answers to A’s, boosting my chances of going to university and giving me an overall better understanding of the syllabus” Matthew Williams, A-Level Music Student

“Matthew Clayton has taught me from a complete beginner- I am now at an intermediate level and I achieved the grade 5 practical exam as well as grade 5 theory. Matthew encourages his students to play many different styles of music. I have enjoyed playing a range of different genres of music such as classical, pop, blues and jazz. Matthew has an excellent knowledge of music theory, which I have enjoyed learning about” Holly Sloan, Undergraduate student in ‘Popular Music’ at University of South Wales

“Rhys (my son) said you made it fun. I think you understand children as well as music. You understand how to motivate and know when to challenge. Exam preparation is thorough and also balanced with other pieces.” Helen Davies
